Siobhan’s story: “my vertebra was permanently crushed ………they couldn’t operate because it was too dangerous”

Siobhan had experienced mild low back pain for several years, but was able to remain active in both her work and hobbies initially. However, after an injury in which she cracked a bone in her back she was in far more pain and became much more disabled. She was told her spine was seriously damaged, and had a lot of stress in her life around that time. She sought lots of treatment, but became more fearful of movement and increasingly stiff after some of that advice. She discusses here the close link between the stress in her life and her pain levels. Through regaining more relaxed movement patterns and learning ways to control her stress, she has greatly reduced her pain and disability.
