This is an interview Prof. Peter O’Sullivan of Pain-Ed completed recently with Prof. Karim Khan, editor of the British Journal of Sports Medicine. In it he discusses the critical importance of explaining test findings, such as MRI scan results, appropriately to patients as otherwise they can have a profound negative effect on a patient’s perception of their pain. In addition, he discusses the importance at looking at the context of a patient’s overall life when trying to identify the specific triggers for their low back pain.
